Troubleshooting Other Issues

General issues

  • Swap file - We recommend that the user has at least 275mb free hard disk space after installation. While MTV Music Generator should perform fine with less than 275mb free, in order to gain maximum performance from this product a larger swap file will be beneficial.
  • Note that when saving songs as .Wav files the resulting file size could be large. As a rule, 1 minute of sound will take up 10mb of hard drive space.
  • Close down any applications before running MTV Music Generator.
  • If you experience any problems, use the Test option on the MTV Music Generator Launcher to save a text file that you can send to custservice@codemastersusa.com in order to help track down your problem.

Windows 2000 issues

At the time of this release, hardware manufacturers are working to provide Windows 2000 support for their equipment. All of the chipsets MTV Music Generator supports have been tested on Windows 2000 using Beta drivers. However we have encountered problems. For Windows 2000 support, please refer to your hardware manufacturer for 100% full Windows 2000 compliant drivers.

Any CD player other than the Default Win98 player will make MTV Music switch back to desktop when an audio CD in placed in the drive. This is a problem with the Win2000 default player as Win2000 uses the Deluxe Win98 CD player and causes MTV Music to flip back to desktop. If you minimize the CD player, MTV Music Generator will continue to function correctly.

Direct X

If you try to run the game without DirectX7.0a installed, MTV Music Generator may not run correctly. The game will check for your current version of DirectX during installation.
